Discover strategies to manage stress and relax

Stress causes a range of symptoms like anxiety, fatigue, poor concentration, and irritability. There are many ways to overcome these things and prevent stress from impacting us negatively. Study this course to: 
  • Learn about causes of stress - physical changes that occur in the body as a result of stress, short term and long term problems, cumulative affect of stressors.
  • Understand relaxation - fostering an easy-living attitude, putting stressors behind you, forgiving yourself.
  • Discover the relationship between drugs and stress - short-term and long-term effects (alcohol, cigarettes, cough mixtures, decongestants, headache tablets, etc).
  • Determine the role of self-esteem on stress e.g. how it's influenced by a person's upbringing, peer group pressure, current employment, physical appearance.
  • Learn how our career and mindset impact stress.
  • Develop problem-solving techniques, self-assurance and overcome insecurities.
  • Improve diet and lifestyle to lower stress.
  • Discover stress-reducing relaxation techniques.
  • Understand what type of person you are and how your personality might influence stress.

This course prepares the graduate to manage their own stress, and support others to manage their stress.
